The 13th annual Filmed by Bike Festival will open at the Hollywood Theatre on May 22nd, and will run until the 24th. This year’s festival will have a new venue, new programs and a collection of some of the world’s best independent bike movies.

This bike themed festival will officially begin with the New Belgium Street Party at the Velo Bike Shop on May 22nd. Following that there will be two “opening night” screenings at the Hollywood Theatre. Each of these screenings will show 10 to 15 short films.

Throughout this weekend there will also be numerous other events taking place, such as a screening of Half the Road, a filmmaker Q&A and a brewery bike tour with visiting and local filmmakers.

“Filmed by Bike has matured into a serious film festival attracting the world’s best bike movies and celebrating Portland’s unbridled passion for two wheels,” says Festival Director Ayleen Crotty. “Cycling crosses social, economic and cultural realms -- Filmed by Bike is a platform for those stories and for celebration. We are thrilled to partner this year with Portland’s iconic Hollywood Theatre and the ultra cool Velo Cult Bike Shop and Tavern to host all our festival events.”

The cost is $11 per show and $42 for the VIP Festival Pass. The VIP Festival Pass offers guests exclusive screenings and events, unlimited access to all screenings, a VIP-only screening and Filmmaker Brewery Bike Tour and beer garden discounts.
