Oregon Ranks Poorly for Doctors

A new study released Monday morning finds that Oregon ranks among the worst places in America for physician to practice.

According to an analysis released by WalletHub ranks Oregon ranks 40th in the country -- the three worst ranked state are Rhode Island,New York, and Washington DC

“Not only does the average medical-school graduate leave campus with roughly $180,000 in debt, but the medical profession has also been undergoing intense transformation in recent years. The Affordable Care Act, the rise of branded hospital networks and the retirement of Baby Boomers are all complicating the lives of doctors and warranting pause from potential whitecoats,” said WalletHub in the analysis.

WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 11 key metrics. Our data set ranges from “physicians’ mean annual wage” to “number of physicians per capita” to “malpractice award payouts per capita.”
