A new survey by AARP shows that while 93 percent of individuals recognize the importance of brain health, few people actually know how to maintain a healthy brain.

See Slides Below: 5 Ways to Maintain a Healthy Brain

AARP asked 1,200 Americans (ages 34-75) to take a survey on the importance of brain health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

When asked on what the specific ways to maintain brain health were, only 18 percent responded with socializing, 34 percent responded with stress management, 44 percent responded with exercising, and 50 percent responded saying that exercises and games are a good ways to stimulate the brain.

With that in mind, the AARP 'Staying Sharp' program has created a curriculum educating members on holistic lifestyle habits that promote a healthy brain.

The $21 a year membership offers information, tools and resources that coach members on what steps to take to lead a healthier and more holistic lifestyle with brain health in the forefront.

"We have found that brain health is not just a key concern for our members, but a concern for all Americans,” said Lynn Mento, Vice President of AARP Membership.  “AARP Staying Sharp isn't just about brain exercises, but about promoting healthier living as a holistic way to support brain health, by keeping physically fit, learning more by challenging your brain, managing your stress, eating right, and connecting with others."
