The city of Portland is set to host Oregon’s first annual Pan African Festival (PAF).

The festival will take place on Saturday, August 12 at Pioneer Courthouse Square from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“PAF’s Planning Committee is excited to celebrate the diversity and contributions Diaspora Africans bring to communities across Oregon. We’re your neighbors, friends, colleagues and community leaders. We hope you’ll join us for a day of unity on August 12,” said PAF Outreach & Publicity Director Laus Mwakalebela.

The Festival

The festival is a cultural vehicle to galvanize, mobilize and empower Diaspora Africans in Oregon.

The festival will serve as a springboard to community building, increasing understanding within and between communities, and creating a dialogue that will bring awareness and sensitivity.

This vision will be on display in PAF’s 2017 Theme: Experience The Culture.

The festival’s lineup includes live entertainment, cultural foods, a fashion show, arts and crafts, a career fair, and much more.
