The win is Garcia’s first major championship of his career after 73 previous attempts.
Garcia is the first Spanish player to win the Masters since 1999 when Jose Maria Olazabal did it.
Extra Holes
With both players tied at 9-under par on the 18th green, Rose and Garcia missed birdie putts that would have gave them the win. They both went back to the 18th tee for the first playoff hole.
After Rose put his tee shot in the rough, where he was blocked out by trees, Garcia hit his drive down the fairway, putting him in prime position.
After Rose had to punch out, Garcia flew his second shot at the green, landing it ten feet above the flag.
Rose eventually got on the green but missed a putt for par. Garcia would drain his birdie putt for the two stroke win.
