U.S. Economy Adds 196,000 Jobs in March

The United States economy added 196,000 jobs in the month of March, according to the Department of Labor.

The gain comes a month after the Labor Department revised the February numbers to 33,000 from the previous number of 20,000.

The March unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, the same as in February.

Wages Increase

According to the Labor Department, average hourly earnings in March were 3.2 percent higher than they were a year earlier.

By comparison, the year-over-year gain in February was 3.4 percent.
