Democratic New Jersey Senator Cory Booker announced that he is dropping out of the 2020 presidential race.

Booker made the announcement on Twitter early Monday morning.

“It’s with a full heart that I share this news - I’m suspending my campaign for president. To my team, supporters, and everyone who gave me a shot - thank you. I am so proud of what we built, and I feel nothing but faith in what we can accomplish together,” said Booker on Twitter.

While his bid for the presidency is over, Booker is still up for re-election for his Senate seat in 2020.

Booker in the Race

According to NBC News, Booker polled at about 2% nationally and did not make the cut for the debates over the last few months.

According to NBC, back in September, Booker’s campaign made a plea for donations, saying he needed nearly $2 million to continue.

Booker joins author Marianne Williamson and former Housing Secretary Julian Castro as candidates who have dropped out of the race this month.
